Home Schooling: Kingdom Ministries
While we are not exclusively a home school a church -- many of our families choose public or private schools -- we do have an umbrella ministry at our church called Kingdom Ministries. Kingdom Ministries is approved by Maryland's Board of Education and provides oversight for home schooled students in grades K-12.
Services Provided:
- Twice-yearly portfolio review in light of Maryland's requirements.
- Maintenance of academic records (grades K-12).
- Assistance in planning a course of study for high school students. High school credits are awarded based on the completion of work and transcripts are provided as needed.
- Liaison to the local county Board of Education.
- Automatic enrollment in Maryland Association of Christian Home Educators (MACHE).
Support, Care, and Fellowship:
- We can help you plan and answer your questions.
- We can help you select curriculum and provide you with information on local home school activities.
- Four times a year, parents come together for an evening of fellowship, relaxation, laughter, prayer, and encouragement through the sharing of an academic topic or project.
Student Recognition:
- Kingdom Ministries hosts an annual dinner and graduation ceremony complete with caps and gowns. A diploma is awarded to each graduate by his or her parents.
- We can help you select curriculum and provide you with information on local home school activities.
- "Achievement Night" is our annual end-of-the-year celebration during which each family can display students' work. Each student has an opportunity to share a talent, and all students are presented with certificates of recognition for the year’s accomplishments.
